Arcos Dorados is the largest McDonald’s franchisee, with over 2,000 restaurants and exclusive rights in 20 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. Its business model is primarily that of an operator, but it also franchises approximately 30% of its restaurants. This company provides exposure to the growth of LatAm while offering the security of partnering with one of the world’s most famous brands.
In recent months, it has been severely impacted by the strength of the dollar and the situation in Brazil, dropping 35% from its peak of $13.2 at the beginning of 2024. However, not all news has been bad during this period, as they have renewed their 20-year exclusivity with McDonald’s in Latin America (royalties increasing from 6% to 6.5%) and are growing faster than their competitors in most of the countries where they operate.
Today, we analyse in detail the situation of this company with very stable earnings, trading at 5x EV/EBITDA, and growing at double digits in several of its markets but heavily impacted by inflation and new regulations in some of the countries where it operates.
